slow-flowing rivers

The assemblage type is found in slow-flowing rivers on silty substrata, generally in lower and middle catchments.

Current ISIS code: W125

Previous assemblage name: None.

Linked assemblage: Various.

Description of habitat typically supporting the assemblage: This predominantly aquatic SAT performed surprisingly well in tests, but its habitat requirements and therefore its links to conservation objectives remain unclear at present.

The assemblage type is found in slow-flowing rivers on silty substrata, generally in lower and middle catchments.

Elements of this assemblage type can also occur in lakes and impounded sections of faster-flowing streams as well as a wide range of artificial water courses including canals, fenland drains and ditches.

The assemblage would benefit from more exploration and definition.

Potentially important environmental impacts

  • Reduction in water quality
